Some people might not go just because it's California, that makes no sense; but as I heard recently from a new Workamper after I joked (we) were as old as Disneyland,
"I won't do Disneyland since they went Woke."Wha??? "Have you ever been?"
"No."
Funny how you don't need much input to steer clear of any in-depth conversations. Why did he have to bring in the topic of Woke? Everything's Woke this, Woke that, narrow-minded people, what can you say?
I offered to take a photo for a couple sitting on a bench - they looked so comfy and peaceful. People were handing cameras to strangers left and right, I was happy to see people still do that.
"Thank you! Would you mind taking a picture from behind us?"Sure, I'll walk through poison oak for you, SNAP, very nice shot with a tall tree in the distance. They asked where we were from (Oregon and Nevada) and responded they were from Texas. We chit-chatted a bit before moving on."I don't know about you (Nance), but I couldn't help thinking at first, Texas - ugh, until I bitch-slapped myself. I wonder what they assumed about us?" Woke people, who aren't really scary at all. We all left smiling; as it should be.
We managed to squeeze in a stop at Eureka's "No Kings - Vote Early" rally on Saturday before heading for the Sequoia Park Skywalk (above), I love being in the air. I've gone skydiving and took flying lessons in a Cessna 150 -- until I gave up bouncing down the runway because of my issue with depth perception.
