I've been biting my tongue about politics in Norteamérica; see, I can change names, too. The absurdity President Trump is throwing at us during his personal Shell Game - can you believe? Let's see what I can remember from the first 100 days:
Renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. If you HAVE to change the name, why not call it the Gulf of THE Americas - that'll include North, South and Central.
Let's take over Canada, Greenland, Panama and Gaza - what real estate potential! Did you hear that on the campaign trail? "It's VITAL we OWN Greenland." Yeah, to enrich our country's coffers. Isn't that why he made a deal with Ukraine - to rape them of their precious minerals before Russia does?
Every time a Canadian comes into our resort I want to throw a party. "Please don't blame us for our President" or "Bless your hearts" inadvertently pops out (we're non-political here, but sometimes you can't help it). A couple that came in the other day explained that he's American, she's Canadian; and their siblings are all in mixed-relationships, too. What mainly concerns them seems to be the hassle of crossing the 'ruler-created border,' not to mention dodging our crazies.
Let's ditch FEMA. I received help from FEMA more than once in Puerto Rico, and their help was a Godsend. If you haven't experienced a natural disaster firsthand, just remember that if they dismantle FEMA and a disaster comes your way, you're up the proverbial creek (unless you've got money).
How much has the Trump family profited since, say, September? They're splitting hairs by claiming their bit-coin business began BEFORE he was elected. If you only listen to Fox News, et al, then you likely haven't watched past clips of Trump denouncing all kinds of things, including bit-coins, followed by his 180 degree words now. They're making money hand over fist, hoping eventually they'll pass even Elon Musk in wealth, is that possible?
I've written time and again that it's just a matter of time before we ALL hit the top of some list to limit our access, abilities and success; and here comes mine...in Medicaid and SNAP cuts. As it is, previous treatments for skin cancer have been paid; but now they're telling me No, and I can't afford those 6 month treatments so I'll leave the spots alone until my skin falls off and they send me to a leper colony.
Are you still waiting for prices to go down? Are things cheaper for you at the store, 'cause they're not around here. Gas is still around $4/gallon. Eggs may have gone down, but what about in a couple months when shelves are empty and assholes jack up the prices on what is available? This is when they're contemplating cutting SNAP benefits? I know, those of us on public rolls should be eliminated entirely. That's the goal. I'll never forget Musk dancing around the stage with a chainsaw, ha ha.
Well, at least I don't have to explain why Santa's delayed at Mar-a-Lago instead of popping down chimneys. I agree, your kids don't need all those dolls, electronics and the latest Smart phones. Give them pencil and paper and a stamp, something new to learn.
Notice how ending wars aren't as important as possibly starting some...in Greenland? Would you send your kids and grandkids up to some frozen wasteland to wipe out the meager population (to further the country's interests, like we did to the Indians)? I fear the number of affirmatives out there.
And the end of habaes corpus? Who cares? Better read the definition: "A writ requiring a person under arrest to be brought before a judge or into court, especially to secure the person's release unless lawful grounds are shown for their detention."
Once they've filled their concentration camps with illegals and sufficiently deterred others from crossing the border, their blood will be up and they'll start in on citizens. If habeas corpus is eliminated, it'll be next to impossible to protect anyone encountering law enforcement, whether illegal aliens or legal citizens with prior records. Who's to determine who is a threat?
Personally, I think the scumbag who stabbed a seal pup on the Oregon coast recently ought to be sent to that place in El Salvador more than a college student exercising free, yes, it is still, speech.
I do still try to listen to Fox now and again, I explain to Republican ties; but each time I do, after a few minutes I'm changing the channel. The last time I heard a guest say then repeat, "There are no good Democrats," and the rest laughed, can you blame me? I listen to CNN (and ABC, NBC, CBS and, gulp, PBS) and sure, they're more vocal in their dissent, but I've never heard anyone say, "There are no good Republicans."
And let's end the life-saving Narcan program and, "...cut down (even more) on the surplus population."
It's good to see that judges are, so far, standing up to the Trump administration. If you don't understand the word Oligarchy (a small group of people having control of a country, organization, or institution) you can't understand when the concept is discussed. Similarly, many haven't been taught the Separation of Powers and its significance, from US Courts:
The U.S. Constitution establishes three separate but equal branches of government: the legislative branch (makes the law), the executive branch (enforces the law), and the judicial branch (interprets the law). The Framers structured the government in this way to prevent one branch of government from becoming too powerful, and to create a system of checks and balances.
Someone needs to remind Trump that he's part of the executive branch, tasked with enforcing laws, not whipping them out via Executive Orders. They aren't binding, he knows that, but it's his way to circumvent the process. The next president will likely strike down many but the damage will have been done. Trump can use that to justify remaining in office for another 4 years: "If I don't stay, the radical left will upend all the good things I'm doing."
Another definition, this time courtesy of A-1, as Secretary of Education Linda McMahon calls it:
The primary purpose of the separation of powers is to prevent the concentration of power in any single branch of government. This is achieved by dividing governmental authority among distinct and independent branches, each with its own specific functions and responsibilities. This system also incorporates a system of checks and balances, where each branch can limit the power of the other branches.
It's not optional to abide by the Constitution, regardless of the lame, "I dunno's" from the President, who promised to uphold the document TWICE. Again we see how DUMB he considers the rest of us. They want to keep the citizenry ignorant, you see it time and again in authoritarian societies. The following is what I believe has already begun:
Totalitarianism is a political system where the government controls every aspect of citizens' lives, often through a single party or a dictator. It's an extreme form of authoritarianism, where individuals have few rights and the state exerts immense power over society. Totalitarian regimes often involve a high level of state interference in the economy, communication, education, and propaganda.
Trump wants to win the Nobel Peace Prize to prove to the universe that he, alone, is the ultimate deal-maker. Bunk. It's taking longer than he promised to end the war in Ukraine and Gaza - not to mention lowering prices. How can he take those goals seriously when he's fiddling with renaming the Gulf of America, proposed by none other than Marjorie Taylor Greene?
No wonder Melania's hiding. I wouldn't want to risk running into my husband's chippies around every White House corner, either. As Mom used to say, "A leopard doesn't change his spots."
Right on! G
