An Unpopular Stance on Olympic Bronze

This is about the dilemma over Jordan Childs's Bronze Olympic medal.  First off, my heart broke watching the moment the first-third placer, Romania's Ana Barbosu,  realized Oops, they made a mistake, give it back.  Now they're doing the same to Childs, and that's heartbreaking, too - what'll they do with this iconic photo?  I think they should give a medal to each of them this one time, then re-clarify the rules and clearly state this won't happen again.

But the Court of Arbitration for Sport doesn't seem inclined to do so; in which case, I'm afraid I'd have to side with Barbosu keeping the medal.  Not everyone gets to be Miss America.

Unfair?  Well, depends on how you look at it.  What if the Court says, "Alright, it's only 4 seconds late, we'll give it to Childs."  Then what happens in the future if someone's 5 seconds late?  Then 6?  Then they change the rules to allow up to 10 seconds lateness, does that make sense to you?

How many other coaches will come out of the China closet to claim that they'd wanted to object, but they saw the clock was already 1 or 2 seconds late.  They'll claim they followed the rules, so should their athlete be penalized?  Will it become, "How much can (we) get away with?"

We need a Solomon.
